CARING FOR YOUR HOME

WINDOWS

Storm Windows

The windows in your home are insulated and storm windows are not required, although they will improve any window's insulating performance.

Paint

Clad wood windows do not need exterior painting. We recommend repainting exterior wood windows and trim during your second year in the house. Be careful not to get paint on any rubber or vinyl surfaces as this will cause the window to continually stick. Weepholes are provided at the base of sliding doors. These should be left open to allow condensation to escape.

Damage

Cracked or broken sashes or grilles will be repaired only if damage to them is noted on your presettlement inspection list or a manufacturer's warranted defect. To avoid damage, never open a window by holding on to a grille.
